Commentary on Lida's paintings by

Dr Olivia Bianchi :

"...I find there all your determination

to make the invisible visible, the soul of living beings. And you do it successfully. Your delicate touch makes perfectly visible that interior secret which is hidden in the depth of each being (including the equids). Like you, the question of interiority and its possible plastic and sensitive formulation, fascinates me. This is what the classics called the grace."

Lida Sherafatmand was born in 1977 in Iran, lived in the island of Malta since 1991 (where she studied at the School of Fine Arts and trained with Anthony Calleja, a renowned Maltese painter). She has exhibited in over 12 countries and has been based in Paris since 2006. Lida also has a Masters Degree in International Relations which for her is a contribute to her art.

As she lived her childhood during the Iran-Iraq war and witnessed the life under a repressive regime, Lida was touched by that experience and so she has decided to use her talent to promote peace and human rights.

Today she is known as a human rights artist who focuses on life values and the human heart. Lida is a multitalented artist who works in both painting, as well as in art jewellery and decorative sculptures. Her paintings on human values have been published by several important bodies including the UN, UNESCO, Amnesty International, the Vatican, and several civil society organizations. She is often invited to participate at international conferences by her paintings.  Lida’s works embody the “humanism” of the 21st century as she launched Humanitarian Art Manifesto in 2004 which has been signed and launched by artists from over 22 countries who are strongly committed to the cause of the happiness of humanity.

Lida’s works in decorative sculpture are used in interior decorations and tablewear. In 2009 her creations were used on the table which won the championships of France’s Art of Tablewear. Her art jewellery is the first line of jewellery which is linked to painting and poems. There she attempts to blur the line between these three mediums in order to express the same soul. The poem is expressed in a painting and the painting is expressed in a jewel.

The two main lines of Lida’s art: one focusing on human values and the other focusing on beautiful crafts is the bearing of her heart as an artist… an active compassion for people in sufferance reminding them of hope, while cheering up the air by contributing beautiful decorations, to emit positive vibrations to the world.
